Our son is in hockey and loves it, but the coach keeps changing the practice schedule on us. Practices used to be right after school, but now they're scheduled so we can’t have dinner as a family anymore. I know eating together as a family is important, but I also want my son to be able to play hockey with his team. I’m not sure how I feel about this. Am I wrong for messing up dinnertime?
Hockey Dad
As a parent, I'm multi-tasking and trying to accomplish several things at the same time. I prepare home-made foods for my family. Once the food is ready, I grab a quick bite and usually fold the laundry or do some other household chore while the kids are finishing eating. I feel like I need to slow down.
Octopus Mom
I work full-time and have no time to cook. The kids are hungry when they get home and one hour seems too long of a wait.
No Time
I don’t know how to cook, so I just find it easier to pick up ready-made food or heat up some frozen meals. What's the big deal?
Trouble in the Kitchen
Our younger child watches TV when she gets home from school, while our teen is on the internet. It is always hard to make them come to the table. They will typically grab a plate and go on with their viewing/browsing.
Tired of Begging
My child has a very small appetite and grazes throughout the day. She is not hungry at mealtime and does not want to sit at the table and eat with us.
Scratching My Head
With my husband working late shifts and my oldest teen in practice at dinner time, it is very hard to sit and have family meals.
Busy Bodies
Our kids will only eat macaroni and cheese or chicken fingers. We, on the other hand, are getting tired of these limited choices and would like to try different foods. Got any ideas for us?
