Do you find yourself imagining you’re the star of a cooking show from time to time? Perhaps while you’re doing some especially smooth whisking, a particularly beautiful marinade or a fantastically simple casserole that even the pickiest of eaters will love?
Better Together has just announced we’re giving all of you BC people a chance to show off your cooking prowess by joining the Hands-On Cook-Off Contest! This contest is designed to celebrate delicious food and fun in the kitchen by having two generations prepare a recipe, captured on home video. Not to sound overly cliché, but we want to see why being in the kitchen is better together! You can team up with your child, grandchild, neighbour, niece, nephew… and create a short, punchy video that shows the world in 3 minutes or less how to make your favourite breakfast, BBQ, pizza, salad, dinner, or snack (complete contest rules are coming soon).
Submissions will appear on the Better Together YouTube channel and will be judged by an expert panel headed by BC’s beloved restaurateur and chef John Bishop. Prizes include $1000 and $500 gift certificates to Cookworks for first and second prizes (or winners can opt to receive cash amounts of $750 and $375 respectively). As well, a People’s Choice Winner will be selected based on the number of votes from the public. The People's Choice Winner will receive a $200 gift certificate to Cookworks (or can opt to receive a cash amount of $150).
So pick a tried and true recipe, grab your video camera, pair up with your favourite young chef and get cooking! If you want a head start, do it in August before the kids are back in school- submissions will be received throughout the month of September!
Full details are coming soon – stay tuned to our contest website!
