Turning up the heat with our Summer 2012 Hands-on Cook-off!

July 09, 2012

It might not (yet) be the hottest summer on record, but this just may be our hottest Hands-on Cook-off yet! We are so thrilled to announce that our Third (that’s right THIRD!) annual Hands-on Cook-off contest launches today—July 9—and runs until September 3rd.

We want YOU to enter! And so, we’ve rounded up our best prizes yet and a panel of inspiring judges to help motivate you.

If you’ve thought about entering in the past but haven’t yet mustered up the video-ing courage, now’s your chance. Don’t be scared, we aren’t judging technical skills. We just want to see you having fun together in the kitchen. That’s all. Simple. Easy. The payback? You could win some fab prizes, and you’ll definitely have the cutest memorabilia ever to show your kids in the future.

Here’s the 411.

Let’s start with the….

Prizes!

Prizes for first and second place are $1500 and $1000 gift certificates to any of the Overwaitea Food Group stores* (or winners can opt for cash amounts of $1125 and $750, respectively). A People’s Choice Winner will also be selected based on number of votes from the public and will receive a $500 gift certificate to any of the Overwaitea Food Group stores or $375 cash.

First-time entrants will be entered into a draw for one Genesis Titan Silver Starter Kit soda maker and we’ll be doing a Random Draw prize for one KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer.

Next, our awesome….

Judges

This year your video submissions will be judged by a panel of experts that includes:

Karen Le Billon, author, French Kids Eat Everything

Meeru Dhalwala, co-owner of Vij’s and Rangoli restaurants, and author of two best-selling cookbooks

Kia Robertson, Creator of Today I Ate a Rainbow

Bob Kronbauer, Founder, Vancouver is Awesome

And finally, our very simple….

Rules and Guidelines

Contest submissions can be made by any BC resident anytime from July 9 to September 3, 2012. Videos must include two generations cooking together and be no longer than three minutes. (No, not a second longer.)  There are no tech skills required—videos can even be made using phone video cameras. Full contest details, including where to upload videos, can be found on the contest site: http://bettertogetherbc.ca/contest

We can’t WAIT to see your entries this year! Good luck. And let us know if you have any questions, by joining the conversation here
